Slowly but surely I am making strides in the dining room. This past weekend I was able to unpack some of our sparkly crystal and display it in the china cabinets. My parents bought us Kate Spade Morago Crystal for our wedding shower; they are just beautiful!
I still have yet to put the china in the cabinet (even though when we moved in I said I couldn’t wait to fill these delightful built-ins with china); maybe next week!
We do have more furniture than when we started though. Here is the Before (more here):
And here is what it looks like now:
I am really happy with my thrift store chairs; I love them…if you can love a chair. After my failed attempt at making slip covers for the parsons chairs I ended up buying a McCalls pattern. I cut out all the fabric, which was extremely time consuming for some reason), now I just have to sew, sew, sew.
A couple of weeks ago I showed everyone a cute green plate from Pier 1 and said I may get the yellow one for the dining room. Well, I did, and it matches the bird fabric perfectly. It’s like camouflage.
I also picked up another yellow plate that was on sale:
My master plan is to find an eclectic mix of white, yellow, and maybe gray plates to hang on the wall. I really like how a mixture of sizes, shapes, and colors look.
Two down, fifteen or twenty to go!
Unfortunately before we hang anything on the wall we need to paint and put up our wainscoting. We haven’t exactly decided on a color so it may be a while. I suppose I can take my time sewing the slip covers
I also haven’t decided what to do for the windows.
I have been thinking about shutters.
Ahhhh…what to do what do to?! While I think about this, I hope you enjoy the rest of your week!

Looks like you have a great vision for your dining room! I have been loving that yellow and gray bird fabric for a while now but just can’t fit it in anywhere in my house.
The plate wall will be fun, hopefully you can find some more great plates to add to your collection! Those chairs are a great find, I love when you can hit the jackpot at Goodwill and garage sales! Our last house we had cabinets like those and I loved them!
