Ice Ice Baby, bad wallpaper, and Balki Bartokomous

Warning, random post ahead! 

Everyone remembers Vanilla Ice, right?  Maybe you were only in 1st or 2nd grade when Ice Ice Baby was a big hit, but it’s just one of those songs that you remember (unfortunately probably forever).  In case you really were a baby when he was singing about Ice you can catch up on his hip hop stylings here. 

Now how many of you have seen his show on the DIY network?  Well, actually, how many of you knew that he has a show on the DIY network (in it’s second season)?  I vaguely remember seeing commercials for the renovation show a while ago, but I never actually watched it…until this weekend’s sneezing, sniffling, coughing, TV watching marathon.

I am not sure why he ended up with his own show, and after watching it, I am still not sure. Basically he bought a huge mansion (in Florida, maybe) that is completely trashed.  He is spending tons of cash fixing it up, and each episode he finishes a different room.  I watched the episode titled Master Sweet(he was bringing the “sweeet” back to the “suite”…nice pun).

Oh wow, that wallpaper…  What do you think?  Yay?  Nay?  Originally the room had a floral print paper which was a step up from this.  When he was picking the paper out he skipped right over the woven grasscloth-like paper to this interesting brown and orange striped number.  I seriously think whoever buys this house will be tearing down that wallpaper ASAP.  Vanilla, Vanilla, Vanilla, what were you thinking?

He spent about $10,000 on the bath, bedroom, and master closet (which looked great, but I think the majority of the budget went into the bath). 

And what is next for the DIY network you may ask?  The Bronson Pinchot project!  My mom and I, and perhaps a few other readers, are probably the only people who remember Bronson Pinchot as Balki Bartokomous in Perfect Strangers.

That is Bronson, AKA Balki, on the right.  I enjoyed watching Perfect Strangers back in the late 80’s early 90’s, but I am not so sure why he is going to have a show on the DIY channel.  I wonder if he likes bad wallpaper also?
