Happy Monday! Did you have a nice weekend? Kevin and I spent most of the weekend working around the house: getting quotes on replacing our roof (not cool), yard work for Kevin, organizing our guestroom, and prepping the nursery for painting.
Lately we have been trying to get the house in order and fixing as much as we can on our never ending list of things to do. Somewhere along the way our dishwasher stopped working properly…yuck! I hate washing dishes (actually Kevin ended up doing most of the dishwashing thank goodness!). We tried to tough it out as long as we could by pre-rinsing everything before we put in in the not-so-great dishwasher. This only lasted a couple of days before Kevin ordered us a new fancy stainless steel washer from Home Depot. We really wanted one that had multiple levels of sprayers and a food disposal system of some sort, oh, and we didn’t want to break the bank! We end up with this beauty:

It was here in no time, and Kevin and his helper were ready to put it in!
Stewie loves to sit on your lap when you are trying to get things accomplished; he is such a great helper (as long as he isn’t chewing on tools, tape, or tubes you are trying to use).
Because of the layout of our kitchen the install of the dishwasher was somewhat of a nightmare (note to self, consider installation next time). Our dishwasher is not very close to our sink, which obviously, it should be. The standard tubes that came with the dishwasher were not long enough so we had to special order longer tubes. After waiting for the correct parts, we were good to go, and Kevin no longer had dishpan hands! ![]()
It looks great and we just love it; it really washes well.
We still have a long way to go in the kitchen. Basically everything (except the new appliances) needs to be ripped out and we need to start over! It seems like the re-model will probably occur slowly over the next few years. It started about 6 months ago when we bought our new range:
We have loved the new range. I must say having the double oven has been quite handy for baking at two temps, and the smaller oven on the top heats up quickly when cooking on only one rack. After using it for a while I am definitely glad we spent a little more and got the double oven feature.
I am pretty sure our fridge is ready to go next (maybe because it keeps leaking), and besides it needs to be stainless to match everything else (it’s white). After that who knows what’s next!
Have you had to buy any appliances lately? Anyone else have non-matching appliances, or did you get them all at once? Whatever you have, hopefully they are working well! On that note, have a lovely week!

I’m jealous of your range! It looks great. So does the dishwasher. If there’s one thing I regret, is not buying one with hidden controls.

Gorgeous appliances! That range is beautiful! A functioning dishwasher is definitely an important feature. I don’t know what we would do without ours!

The range and dishwasher look great! It must be so nice to have a properly working dishwasher again! Hand washing is the worst! We didn’t have dishwasher for 2 years, and now that we have one, holy cow, I am one happy girl! Your blog is fabulous!

What a difference that will make!!!! It looks great! It’s funny, when we first got our new dishwasher, I didn’t want to get it dirty so I barely used it. haha. That got old fast though
By the way, I love how we have the exact same range
Yay Home Depot!

We have non matching appliances right now. It’s been a slow process for us too. I do have a double oven though and love it! I am a spoiled with how quickly the top oven heats up. It is definitely worth the splurge. I wish I was as crazy about our dishwasher as you are about yours. We got a new one last summer and I really haven’t been that impressed. I want one that requires no prewashing.

I love: The shiny new appliances! Your adorable little helper! And your husband’s tattoos!!!

I have total dishwasher envy right now. Of all of the modern amenities we’ve given up living here the dishwasher is the one and only I really wish we had. Love it!!! And Amy’s comment above cracks me up. haha

yay for shiny and new! And for no more dishpan hands! OMG Mannie does the same thing anytime we sit on the floor…it’s in our lap he goes!

It looks great! All of our appliances need to go, even though they are brand new. The flippers put in the cheapest of the cheap and it shows. Our dishwasher is the most crucial on the list, so hopefully before October, we can replace it (the sewer line repair ate up some of the appliance savings… so we are like you and trying to tough it out as long as possible!)

Oh what I would do for a dishwasher!

Yay for the new, pretty dishwasher! Love it!

I never had a dishwasher growing up. Now I think it’s a necessity and not a luxury.
Stewie is an extremely cute helper!
