What do you have planned for today? A little BBQ and R&R hopefully! My plan is try to stay cool. The highs in Chicagoland are about 100 today, with heat index around 110. Yikes! We haven’t had this warm of a summer in a long time (so this is definitely the best time to be 7 months pregnant).
Last fourth of July we dressed up the house:
We put the red, white and blue bunting on all the windows we could (12 total). Unfortunately the blue bled into white after it rained and all of the buntings were ruined. Last year I told Kevin I would just make some for this year…then I forgot…Kevin reminded me last week. I hinted that perhaps he should have given me a little more time to whip up 12 window decorations…to which he replied, he gave me a year. I guess he has a point there!
Last week I ran out to JoAnn and picked up 7.5 yards of canvas fabric (2.5 yards of each color, on sale thankfully), came home, washed and dried it (to prevent rain damage again), cut it into strips, and sewed one together. It took me all day to do that much. I promised Kevin they would be ready for The Fourth of July…2013! Wish me luck!
Hopefully you completed your patriotic crafts for today, or made that special flag cake you pinned ages ago. And if you didn’t, no big deal, just blame it on the heat! Enjoy your holiday!

Those Kevins, I tell you what. What are we going to do with them?!
I can’t wait to see the bunting finished (next year).
Stay cool and have an awesome 4th!

Wow! That’s quite an undertaking. At least if you don’t get finished you can use them for Labor Day or next year.

I”m excited to see this bunting you make. We have bunting, too, but it didn’t make it out this year. I wanted to put it on the porch railing but it’s not painted yet. And until it stops being 1,000,000 degrees, it won’t be painted. Maybe by Labor Day?

I could probably swing Labor Day…but I can’t tell Kevin that!
