A few weeks ago I showed everyone the nursery mood board that we were going to base the nursery around…
I have made some progress and definitely have made some changes in the plan. I shared the crib, dresser and rug with you guys a while ago also (those aren’t changing).
We decided on a paint color for the upper part of the wall (there is chair rail throughout the whole room). I can’t wait to see the Benjamin Moore Old Navy paint on the walls! Here it is in a mod nautical nursery (via Hudsen Baby Design):
Below the white chair rail will be solid white. I have decided to do green accents instead of baby blue that I originally was thinking about.
The astronaut light fixture has been ordered from Amazon. Today it is $16 less than it was when I bought it, darn.

It’s so cute…I hope it’s bright enough to light up the room, but not too bright.
I searched high and low for a unique crib mobile. I really wanted something that looked like molecules from organic chemistry, but I couldn’t find anything I liked. I figured I could make something, but I was paranoid about it falling apart and becoming a choking hazard. I have decided to make something that the baby won’t choke on! The base of the mobile will be this, also from Amazon:

And the hanging objects have to do with robots…I haven’t made it yet, but hopefully it works!
My mom made baby Kevin a beautiful quilt which she gave us at the shower. I helped select the fabrics and the design. I just love the finished blanket and I know Kevin will have it for many years:
Instead of the blue robot curtain fabric I originally added to the mood board, I think I am going to go with this argyle print from fabric.com:

I am loving the bright green with the navy, and the argyle is perfect with the educational thing we have going on. I wanted to do a coordinating print for the crib skirt, and I think I decided on this chevron:

I also purchased a pull down school map, vintage globe, and am working on another piece of art for the wall. I originally wanted to add some more art, but we are running out of room on the walls (it’s not a very big room). I hope I can fit some more scientific objects in there!
What do you think? I’m hoping it looks good when I get it all together, and not crazy! Kevin is worried I am all over the place with the design, but I feel like a have a plan. It’s “eclectic nerdy baby chic”, lol.

Eclectic nerdy baby chic, haha. Love it.
Love the fabrics, too!

Everything is looking great so far! I am really loving the green accents and the astronaught light. We were hoping to work on getting some things settled last weekend, but with the power outage that was a no-go. Can’t wait to see everything all together!

Yay! This is so exciting. You know I love the vintage map. We love the one we have in Henry’s room.
Did you already buy the mobile frame? I bought one and then a friend gave me another. I’d be happy to send it to you. The one we have works pretty well in our room for the paper but I will warn you that it doesn’t seem to hold a ton of weight.

I LOVE where you’re going with the nursery! Green and navy and my favorite combo for a boy!! And the scientific objects are a fun twist!

I believe we still have your styrofoam solar system that you made in grade school. Could be the perfect accessory for this room. Want dad to bring it over?

hehe, my mom was definitely kidding. I am sure whatever it is that she still has is quite unattractive!! Maybe I can just take a picture of it and put it on the wall…in the closet, lol.
That astronaut light is absolutely adorable!
