When I first started this blog we took a tour of the house, and I showed you the view from our sunroom. While the view hasn’t really changed, the furniture has. Earlier this year I made over a small sofa that I have had for ages…
Once the sofa was finished we moved our TV to the sunroom and we started spending a lot of time in this room. It didn’t take long for us to realize that this sofa was just too small and somewhat uncomfortable.
So, Kevin is a fireman. When he is at work, either he is working or he is sleeping in a recliner. I am not sure if it is firemen or just men, but I think they are obsessed with recliners. Since I met Kevin he has told me how he needs a recliner. I personally think recliners are ugly, but it’s what he really wanted. So we were off to the store to purchase a larger sofa and a recliner.
Here is a look at what we ended up with:
It may not look a lot larger than the other sofa, but it is. I just realized this photo also makes the sofa look lumpy…that might have something to do with the fact that Stewie likes to sit on the top of the pillows and look out the windows. I guess we can’t have anything nice around here!
Well, there she is. Kevin’s throne. Would you have given in and let your husband/boyfriend get a big giant recliner even it it visibly isn’t your thing? I tried to find the least offensive fabric. I think the faux leather is a lot better than some of the other options (we went with fake leather so we wouldn’t see a ton of Stewie’s claw marks on real leather). I have to admit, I do sit in it every now and then, and it is pretty darn comfortable!
The room still needs a ton of work, but it has great features!
All the tables we have in here are mismatched and old. I have yet to find anything that I love…that isn’t a small fortune. We also have a mix of all kinds of old/cheap lamps.
I love the ceiling, but I would definitely like a new ceiling fan…
and a new TV/media stand would be fabulous as well!
So here is the list of things to do in this room:
- Tables
- Better solution for TV stand and speakers
- New lighting
- Updated ceiling fan
- Add art or gallery wall
- Cuter throw pillows for sofa (current ones came with it)
- Make room for tons of baby stuff and possibly add storage of some sort!
So much to do, so little time!

Oh I love the ceiling too! I would totally give in and let the boy have a recliner if he really wanted one too! I’m all about everyone being comfortable. I would be like you though and try to find the least offensive fabric and style I oculd. That’s a really cute room! I can’t wait to see where you end up with it!

The planked ceiling is definitely awesome! I love it! And those recliners are not the prettiest, but they’re usually very comfy haha.

You are a better person that I am, I don’t think I could cave into a recliner (I say that now and the day Forr comes to me and tells me he needs one I’ll probably give in lol!) My MIL tried so hard to get us to consider one for the nursery and I finally found one that looks nothing like a recliner but does at least lean back. What stinks is they are so flipping comfy!

Love those ceilings and you can never win with the recliner debate. I really didn’t want to buy a recliner with our new living room set, but Travis’ insisted, and then they ended up giving it to us for free, so I couldn’t turn it down. So jealous that you have a sunroom.

I love how bright is it! Your new furniture looks great too. Surprisingly, John hasn’t said anything about wanting a recliner…YET!

Very pretty! I would love to have a bright and cheery sun room!

Oh! I love your sunroom! It’s so bright and cheery and the ceiling looks great! You’re a good woman for caving with the recliner, I’d never give into Jesse!

Love the ceiling!!
You are a MUCH better wife than I am. There are words we will not say in our house…like recliner and taxidermy.

Nice sofa! What a cozy sunroom-looks so relaxing! Makes you want to curl up in a blanket and read a book

What a bright and cheerful room!! Have you considered just painting all of the wood furniture pieces a consistent color (maybe with new matching hardware) rather than buy new?
And that recliner does look SO comfortable! I think just adding some cute throw pillows would make it feel more girly… even if you husband is like mine and will throw them on the floor immediately!
Can’t wait to see more!

Oh yeah, the pillow that was on the chair in the photo is currently on the floor, lol. I definitely need to spice it up with some cuter pillows; good idea!
I have thought about painting the existing tables…I am not loving the shape/size of any of them though. I actually found a table at Savers the other day which I am going to show off later this week!
