First let me just say ‘Thank you!’ for all the sweet comments you made on my post the other day. Each one of them made me feel a little better about my decision!
Now, let’s talk rugs, glorious rugs. Who would have thought a rug could make a gal so happy? A few weeks ago I wrote about my Groupon to RugsUSA and I showed some unique yellow rugs that I might buy for the dining room. Well it’s a long story, but I still haven’t used my Groupon…I did however buy one of the rugs. Here she is in her new home:
This is the Modern Trellis rug in Sunshine from Rugs USA. I was thinking it was going to be yellow and white, but I was happy to see it is more of a tan or even light gray…it’s hard to tell.
I was worried the size wouldn’t be right, but I think it will work out perfectly. It was kind of tricky getting a rug to fit on both sides of the table under the chairs and still fit in the room! I read somewhere that the rug should be 1.5′-2′ larger than the table on each side. I believe I was pretty close to that with this rug.
The room is almost done! We still need window treatments (the ones we have in there are old and dirty, yuck).
The wall above still needs a little buffet or console table…
And this wall is waiting for a gallery of plates. I have all the plates, but I need to figure out how to hang them. Anyone have any luck hanging plates? What did you use? I don’t think I like the look of metal plate hangers. I’d also like to paint the inside of the china cabinet. Currently it is a light beige color (the original room color). I’ve changed my mind a million times about what color to paint inside. Now I am just thinking about going with white or perhaps a lighter shade of gray. I feel like the room has more than enough yellow and we need more white and gray.
Has anyone else made any big purchases online lately? Any other rugs glorious rugs out there? I have another story of a rug, but I will save it for another day…I’m still trying to clean the poop off of it (don’t ask!).

I love the rug! I think the size is perfect for your space!

BOO Groupon.
But hooray for new and basically a steal rugs!! Kelly at View Along the Way has a plate wall and something in my distant memory remembers a post about a plate hanging hack. You could google her blog title with plate hanging and see if you could find the post.

I’ve had rugs on the brain like crazy. I want one in the living room and dining room both. But the dining room table isn’t built yet, so I haven’t known what size to get. Thanks for the tip. Looks great in there! I also have to say your built-ins are killing me. Absolutely gorgeous!

1. I love that rug. LOVE. It’s gorgeous.
2. Congrats on your job transition! Kevin and I have already had several discussions about what I’ll do down the road and I always end up hyperventilating. And it’s still years away!
3. I can’t wait to meet little Kevin. You know I’m partial to my Kevins.

I love your new rug! It fits perfectly! I think I’ve mentioned it before, but your dining room amazes me because the colors are the same as ours, to a T. I love those built-ins as well, they have so much character!

I love how the rug ties in perfectly with your dining room! Great choice! I need to get a rug for my living room, but I haven’t pulled the trigger yet. I have literally been debating this purchase for months!
PS-Your dining room is just amazing. I adore it!

The rug is great for the space! I love it! A friend of mine has a plate display (and I’m working on collecting plates for one too) but I dont know how she has them hung. I’ll see if I can find out!
