Reindeer Napkins, Christmas Crackers, and The Kids Table

A couple weeks ago I showed everyone the simple place card holders I am going to use for our first Christmas dinner.  I still need to finish the rest of them, but I needed to start planning the rest of the table.  Next up for the table decor was making holiday napkins.  I was in search of something red and white and not too Christmasy, but ended up with something totally different.  I found this cute black reindeer print, and I couldn’t pass it up.

To make 15 napkins I needed about 4 yards; that’s a lot of reindeer fabric! Thankfully it was on sale.

Here is the final table setting:

I used Kim’s idea of using scrapbook paper for the placemat.  It seriously took me forever to chose which paper to use, and in the end I decided to use two different prints.

Each guest will also get a Christmas Cracker.

There is quite a bit of history to the Christmas Cracker that I just learned. Apparently they originated in 1847 when a confectioner wanted a more hygienic way to wrap his candies and give Christmas guests a pretty wrapped trinket at the same time. I just think they are cute, and I hope our family enjoys them!

I also have big plans for the kids table…

Each child will get to color their “place card holder ornaments”…

And after dinner their place mats…

Can be turned over, and those can be colored also (with the box of markers as a centerpiece)…

And if they are still looking for something to do, they can do some Christmas puzzles and games.  I hope the kids like it at much as I do!

Does anyone else have Christmas Crackers at their table?  This will actually be a new tradition I hope to keep up with.  What about a kids table, do you have one of those? How long did you have to sit at one?   ;)
